Want to Support local artists?

posted Sep 19, 2012, 5:25 AM by Andrew Montrie
Starting on October 6th in Pack Square there will be a great opportunity to support local artists. It's the first Saturday of American Craft Week and professional artists in all medias of art will be setting up their work around the Vance monument in downtown.  This year every purchase made at the market will help to provide a series of new grants administered by the Asheville Area Arts Council.

One way to support artists is to haggle up.  Pay more for the item you are buying if you think its worth more.  Tip the artists for all the work it takes to create such fantastic displays.  This is your chance to interact with each artists in an open public forum.  Take the time to ask the artists about their process.  They love to talk about it.

The best way to support local artists is to come out to the event and view the art.  Most artists are in the Square to make connections.  They want you to see and experience their hard work. Come to Pack Square 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on the first 3 Saturdays of October and support the new American Craft Week movement.
