About the Market

Andrew Montrie has more than 25 years of experience in the development and marketing of American Made and handmade products. He holds a degree in economics from Frostburg State University in Maryland, and is a graduate of the nonprofit Arts Business Institute (ABI). Montrie is a sponsor of American Craft Week and was president of the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association 2012-2014. He is the owner of Muddy Knees Design and Production.  He lives and works in artcentric Asheville North Carolina where he produces the Asheville Art in the Park  and Spruce Street markets.

While Montrie enjoys developing his own creative projects, he also passionately mentors artists about business trends and techniques that can help them grow profitably and realize the economic impact and importance of their contribution to the Main Street economy nationwide. Wendy Rosen, president of the Rosen Group says “His contributions to Asheville’s creative community and passion to help artists succeed are fundamental as we move forward helping creative people access the benefits of the new economy and the revitalization of the contemporary American Made movement.”
